Aisha Kemp: Evaluation Question 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

As a group we decided that our film would be independent. This is because we mainly feature independent conventions within our film.
Elements that make our film independent are:
- Our cast are not well known actors therefore, not much money would have to be spent on them.
- Our choice of music is mainly sound effects or natural sound, this means we would not have to spend a lot of money on our song for example to use an existing song, many mainstream productions use songs created by artists.
- Our film would be created from a low budget however, it is our job to please the audience.

In our audience research, the feedback was mainly that our audience prefer a mainstream film however, we feel that our film better suits an independent production. We would work to make a mainstream audience enjoy our production.
We created our on distribution company 'On Point Entertainment' and also our own production company 'Quiet On Set Productions'.

The logo that we created for 'On Point Entertainment' shows a picture of point shoes. We've shown a pun-like relationship between the name and the image as something that the audience will be attracted to and pick up on. The logo is red, black and the text is white. These colours are typical for a thriller genre therefore, our logo will identify the genre to the audience.

The logo for 'Quiet On Set Productions' is an image that we created on 'Photoshop' of a girls finger up to her lips - we have drawn a relationship with the name and image here too.

If a distribution company were to distribute our film we would choose 'Momentum' as it is one of the leading independent distribution companies. Momentum, owned by eOne Films, are UK distributors. eOne are an international company however, branch out to the UK via Momentum. Momentum have distributed thrillers such as 'Man On A Ledge' and 'Killer Joe'. Their experience with successful distributing thrillers would ensure that our film would be watched as the company would have gained an English, independent audience who enjoy thrillers. 'Killer Joe' is rated a 12 whereas 'Man On A Ledge' is an 18. The fact that 'Killer Joe' is rated a 12 represents that Momentum are successful at distributing thrillers to a younger audience who (the 15 and over audience) are the same age group as our target audience. Momentum have also distributed the Sweedish language version  of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' which is relevant as for product research I researched this film exploring it's great thriller opening and in our audience research 'Vox Pop' our audience stated that they enjoy this thriller.
