Mulki Raage Cayduruus; Evaluation Question 5- How did you attract/address your audience?

After deciding that our target audience should be 16-20 year old people, we looked at the character types. We choose 'The Breakfast Club' as one of our critical film choices to make reference to as the comedy conventions used in this film affect a character's personality and behavior. This may appeal to the audience as the film uses comedy to showcase teenage stereotypes. The stereotypes shown have a significant impact on our target audiences life as this may be the case in both their school and social lives.

To ensure that our target audience receives the appropriate opening sequence, I did some research on the bbfc which gave us some guidelines as to what is appropriate for our target audience:

  • strong violence
  • frequent strong language (eg 'f***').
  • portrayals of sexual activity
  • strong verbal references to sex
  • sexual nudity
  • brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence
  • discriminatory language or behavior
  • drug taking

Our product may also appeal to our mainstream audience as the location of the film is clinical which is emphasized by the white walls.
The narrative was used to help attract audiences by the use of having an ambiguous scientist. This will make audiences who regularly go to the cinema enjoy the experience of trying to fill the gaps of the narrative themselves.
